Protecting What Matters. Building What’s Next.

Dear neighbor,

In 2022, you elected a leader rooted in community and committed to affordable housing for all, equitable transit, and an accessible government that works for everyone. With your support, I became Minnesota's first Hmong-American County Commissioner and the youngest to serve on the Ramsey County Board. I took the responsibility of your public servant as a duty to do more for our District, and I am proud to say that I now serve as the Vice-Chair of the County Board, the Chair of the Housing Redevelopment Authority (HRA), and the Vice-Chair of the Regional Rail Authority (RRA).

Together, we have established reform in how the County invests in, and delivers for, our communities. As HRA Chair, I have ensured the construction and preservation of over 2,000 affordable homes, invested in our critical corridors, and established the powers of an Economic Development Authority to support small businesses without increasing the levy. As RRA Vice Chair, I worked hard to push Bus Rapid Transit projects forward like the Gold Line and Bronze Line, ensured that District 6 saw increased transit improvements to undo the harms of historical disinvestment, and helped secure long-term transit investments such as the Metro Area Regional Sales Tax, which is expected to generate over $400 million annually for local transit projects. At the frontlines with community, I continue to fight to protect clean air and mitigate the harms caused by industrial pollution, including the impacts of facilities like Northern Iron. And lastly, with my colleagues and in collaboration with District 6 residents, we passed a budget that makes responsible tradeoffs, limits unnecessary levy growth, and invests in a One Ramsey County approach that strengthens service delivery.

I am proud of the progress we have made, but in such unprecedented times, the stakes have never been higher. Four years ago, we could not have anticipated the unfunded mandates and destruction to the social safety nets now confronting our communities. Many of our neighbors are being terrorized by ICE, forcing families into the shadows and threatening their ability to stay housed, get to work, or seek help. These are not isolated crises; they are the outcomes of deliberate policy choices that shift harm downward and leave local governments and taxpayers to absorb the consequences.

If re-elected as your County Commissioner, I will remain committed to protecting housing, advancing equitable transit, and defending core public services like SNAP. Together, we will protect what matters and build what is next. Join me in this fight by becoming a delegate for me to earn the DFL endorsement or by donating to my campaign today.

In solidarity,

Mai Chong Xiong

Ramsey County Commissioner (District 6)
