What to expect at the convention?

Congratulations on becoming a delegate or alternate to the DFL Ramsey County District 6 Convention! This is where you will be able to endorse me for the Ramsey County Commissioner seat. Registration opens at 8:00 AM, the County Convention will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. After the County Convention, the Senate District 67 Convention will begin; this is where you may vote to support resolutions and endorse candidates for the the Minnesota House Representative 67A & 67B and Minnesota Senate 67 seats. Finally, the convention will select delegates to represent us at the State Convention.

If you did not get selected as a delegate or alternate, you may still attend to show your support and meet your neighbors and your elected officials! Please contact the campaign right away to get plugged in, info@maichongxiong.org.

PRO TIPS for first-time convention attendees!

Come early to get registered so that you'll have time to talk with your neighbors and candidates who are running for office. Usually statewide and congressional campaigns seeking the DFL endorsement stop by or have a table to meet delegates, and current DFL-endorsed elected officials stop by to address the convention.
Most campaigns usually provide snacks or food, and feel free to pack your own lunch and bring a reusable water bottle. Food may not be eaten inside the auditorium but may be eaten in designated areas.
Roberts Rules of Order will be used during the convention, and you may ask your neighbors or any volunteers to help you engage in the process.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes.
Bring a good book, fully charged phone, and portable battery - we may end up taking a few hours to conduct and finish business.
If you have a PCA or interpreter with you, they may obtain a special floor pass to be seated near you.
